Job DescriptionDue to tremendous success and demand for our services, the Apex Group has a need for a dynamic Application Support Engineer responsible for growing pre and post-sales technical support of the Apex Group’s network optimization product portfolio: US-based PeerApp and Canadian-based 3D Cellular. PeerApp is the world’s leading media caching and content acceleration solutions provider helping ISPs reduce their IP costs by 30% and increase their speed of delivery by 4-6 times. 3D Cellular helps optimize the core network routing for wireless operators that use equipment from Ericsson, Nokia Siemens, Alcatel Lucent, Nortel and Samsung.

The Application Support Engineer will be supporting the Apex Group’s clients include some of the Middle East and Africa’s largest telecom service providers including: Etisalat, Saudi Telecom, Mobily, Qtel, Integrated Telecom Company, Mada, Zajil, Wana, Etisalat Afghanistan, Tunisie Telecom, and Telkom South Africa.

The candidate's main responsibilities will include:
  1. Providing prompt and professional technical support to the Apex Group’s customers in the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe
  2. Delivering pre-sales technical support to the Apex Group’s Regional Sales Manager including technical solution design, email and support
  3. Implementing new solution deployments on customer-premises
  4. Conducting technical training to the Apex Group’s customers prior to and after implementation of software licenses
  5. Trouble shooting, performance monitoring, recommendation of resolution, and script/code writing for optimization software
  6. Being responsive and available for customers
  7. Representing the Apex Group and its suppliers in the most professional possible manner
  8. Providing regional insight and strategic recommendations for securing long-term revenues for PeerApp and 3D Cellular

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2-3 years technical support experience at these levels:
    • Supporting large-scale network, application, database, security solutions on a 24/7 basis
    • Knowledge and previous use in utilizing trouble ticket software
    • Strong application troubleshooting and analysis skills
    • Strong familiarity with IP networking protocols
    • Completing network or software implementations on large networks
  • Very strong written and spoken English communication
  • Experience working for multi-national or US/UK technology company
  • Must be available for afterhours work to complete scheduled maintenance and for emergency support
  • Knowledge of application development and production environment

Preferred Requirements
  • The candidate has spent time living abroad in Western Europe or North America
  • Speaking and writing Arabic and/or French is also preferred
  • Familiarity with testing applications, logging into databases, database rolls, privileges, user management etc.
  • Experience in Operating System internals (Unix and Windows)
  • Skilled in use of various scripting languages, editing tools, utilities etc.
  • Candidates with demonstrated knowledge of Oracle Database principles, Cron Jobs and SQL scripting and queries will be given preference
  • Software development background a plus

Compensation Attractive compensation package includes base salary, performance bonuses, health care and travel expense reimbursement. Commensurate upon experience.
